This article is all about the Sand Sort Puzzle case study. Last year August, 7Games, a prominent game development company based in Brazil, asked us to customize one of our highly popular puzzle games, “DD Sand Sort” for the FB Instant Games platform.

He indicated that the customized version of the DD Sand Sort game was a great success, with over 100,000 people playing it and generating a profit of $20,000 USD in just a few months.
Although 7Games didn’t track the average engagement time, the addictive and fun nature of the game contributed to its popularity among users of all ages.

Take Me There!DDS Sand Sort vs. 7Games Sand Sort: What Has Changed?
Here’s the list of changes we made to 7Games’ Sand Sort Puzzle:
- Interstitial and rewarded ads added.
- Inviting & sharing functionalities added.
- The gameplay is faster and feels better. For example, we increased the speed of sand pouring in the customized version of Sand Sort.
As you can see below, the customized version has undergone some visual modifications. We changed the game’s default background from day to night. Also, the game font and some UI elements have been changed.
However, the level design in both games is pretty much the same, and there are no major differences in game mechanics and gameplay. As you can see below, the 4th level of both games challenges the player with exactly the same puzzle. Also, the game continues to feature endless challenging levels.
Both games’ stores feature the same in-game purchasable items. However, the store design and some items’ prices in customized versions are different from our studio’s original version of the game.
In the customized version of the game, we’ve added a profile page for players so they can see how many coins they got rewarded, how many scores they’ve accumulated, and which level they’re currently at.
Additionally, the ranking system (leaderboard) was added, which presents global and FB friends leaderboards. However, that’s not all. We also added Portuguese and Spanish languages for players in those countries.

The partnership between 7Games and us resulted in a successful project that met the needs of both companies. By customizing DD Sand Sort for the FB Instant Games platform, 7Games was able to expand its reach and engagement with Facebook users, while our studio showcased its expertise in game development and customer satisfaction.
